THE STORY GAME |

Home Whether you use the game to pry stories out of the "old folks" or just to have a hilarious time in your small group or at a party, The Story Game will be one that you'll play over and over again. And while you'll elect a "master story teller" at the end of the game, everyone wins when great stories are told. To play the story game you roll a six-colored die. The face color matches one of six categories of cards: "My times" contains questions about what life was like growing up, such as, "The first movie I saw in a theater." "Old days" gives you the opportunity to pass on stories that were handed down to you. It contains questions such as, "Tell a funny story passed down through the generations." "Thanks" questions allow you to share heart-warming stories that honor and thank others for what they've meant to you. For example, "A person who made a big difference in my life is _________. Explain." "Deep" contains stories about God, spiritual things, and what makes life meaningful, such as, "If I knew I could not fail, I would _______." Elaborate on your answer." "Oops" gives you a chance to hear the hilarious stories of mistakes, miscues, flubs and embarrassing moments. For instance, "Tell a story with this theme: 'The weirdest thing happened...'" "Life" gives you a chance to talk about your hopes, fears, dreams and ambitions. These thought-provoking questions are things like, "It was one of the happiest moments of my life so far." With 50 questions in each category, we've been able to play for months without repeating any of the questions. What really sets The Story Game apart, though, is that each person is dealt several "Crazy Cards" that can completely change the direction of the game. For example, let's say that someone launches into a story that is embarrassing to YOU. You can slap down the "Enough already!" crazy card and stop the story. And if someone is being coy about telling the whole truth, you can play your "Tell me more" crazy card to prompt the storyteller to expand on his story. There are eight different Crazy Cards in all. Says Dr. Myers, “When we played the game with my 89-year-old grandmother, Gladys, we found ourselves playing the Crazy Cards to ‘encourage’ her to share story after story. Though I've known my grandmother for 40 years, I heard stories that night that I had never heard before. What a heritage for my children to be able to hear those priceless tales from long ago!” Your Story Game set will come in an attractive, sturdy tin wrapped in colorful cardboard. Inside you'll find six different categories of question cards, a six-color die, and a set of Crazy Cards that double the fun of telling stories. Once your set arrives in the mail the simple instructions will have anyone of reading age playing within five minute--and up to eight people at a time can play. |
